Great Britain – Dardanelles Campaign – Türkiye: 1915 (27 December). Cover addressed to an officer serving at 2nd Hampshire Regiment, 88th Brigade, 29th Division M.E.F. franked with 1d. and tied by Thruxton datestamp. Returned to sender with manuscript Died of Wounds in Action 5/1/16 – Captain, two rectangular violet Undelivered for reason stated / To be returned to sender / at the address shown on cover. / Returned from / Returned Letter Section, London and boxed R.E. (2.R.) / A.P.8 Army returned letter handcachets. Re-addressed to Thruxton, Andover and again forwarded to Dorchester. Reverse 9 February 1916 Base Army Post Office Z dispatch and 4 April arrival cds’s.
