1865 Brazil Porto Alegre to USA Returned

Brazil: 1865 (28th January) entire from Porto Alegre, Brazil to New York, routed via Europe to avoid Civil War blockades, missing its intended sailing and carried by “Parana”, sailing 28th February for Southampton arriving 5th April. Included with the French mails the letter was passed to France with red Brezil 2 Calais cds of 7 Avril, then returned to London and on to Queenstown for the Cunard line “Persia” arriving on 19th where N.Y. 30 Br Pkt/ or U.S. 43 Notes date stamp applied.
