Ottoman Turkey: 1893 (27 October). Cover to Elazığ franked with pair of 20pa pink of 1892 coat of arms and tied by DERSAADED BAB-I ALI – DEPART CONS/PLE S.PORTE (A&P type 3, RR) datestamp. Reverse POSTAHANE-I MAMURET’ÜL-AZIZ 283 (A&P type 2, R) arrival negative seal. Undelivered and return to sender by oval bilingual RETOUR handcachet and received 5 December 1893 cds on arrival. It was tried to deliver to the sender twice on 10 & 15 January with Istanbul cds’s. Blue crayon manuscript notes mention the absence of the sender and eventually his return to Dersaadet. Scarce
