1920 Turkey 5pa on 2pa Unissued Block of 9

Ottoman Empire: 1919 (3 July). Accession of Sultan Mehmed VI issue 5pa surcharged on 2pa Newspaper Stamp further handstamped diagonally 1920 in blue unmounted mint block of with handstamp double on middle row.

According to the article published in Tughra Times vol 7, no. 3 ten sheets of 100 of these stamps discovered after the printing process in 1920. Per the instructions of the Director of the Dette Publique Ottoman they were handstamped and given the post office for use. Although they were not authorised, they were accepted for postage. Handstamp applied in blue or red. This is the largest recorded block as suchex. P. Ozand
