1921 In the Hands of Arabs
Published by Hodder and Stoughton Linited, 1921. Hardbound with protective sleeve, first edition, 8vo., xii and 239pp, frontiespiece and 24 b&w photo plates, kight general wear,and foxing on edges but clean pages. The author recounts her brief unpleasant stay in Shahraban [Iraq], where her husband, Captain E.L. Buchanan, was a military supervisor of irrigation projects. After a few months, on August 13th, 1920, a Bedouin uprising took over the town, killing her husband and four other Englishmen; she remained captive for about three weeks thereafter until Sharaban was reclaimed by a British relief force from Baghdad.
