1926 Turkey CFR Attempted Flight to Ankara

Turkey: 1926 (31 May). Compagnie Franco Roumanie (later CIDNA) attempted fly to Ankara, Turkey cover franked with 30c, 45c and three 1fr definitive stamps for 1f25 overseas letter and 2fr airmail surcharge rate tied by Paris datestamp addressed to famous Armenian merchant Kassapian. Additionally franked decorative art stamps have been marked invalid. Flight were refused permission to overfly Turkey and had to abandon company’s plan to create an airline to the Far East and terminated at Istanbul.
