1939 Turkey Censored Airmail Cover to France

Turkey: 1939 (28 September). Spanish Legation censored airmail cover via Zemun to France franked with 12k and 12 1/2k Ataturk definitives tied by Beyoglu Istanbul 8 datestamps, 30 September Zemun transit cds, censored on arrival with French military censor label and cachets. Following declaration of war on September 1939 Turkey had no direct international airmail service. Imperial Airways and Air France could no longer fly over Germany and Lufthansa could no longer much of Continental Europe. This cover probably gone by rail to Belgrade and via neutral route, probably air via Italy. ex. W. Robertson
